Post Office MIS Interest Rate : POMIS aka Post Office Monthly Income Scheme is a low risk with guaranteed returns scheme. In POMIS, you invest a lump sum amount and enjoy regular monthly returns on it. Currently POMIS provides 7.4 % of annual interest rate.

- The government has increased the interest rates on small savings schemes by up to 70 basis points for the April-June 2023 quarter. (1 percentage point = 100 basis points).
- Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (POMIS) will give the interest rate of 7.4 % for April 1, 2023 till June 30, 2023.

Post Office MIS Interest Rate FAQs
Post Office MIS is the most popular risk-free savings scheme which provides decent guaranteed returns on your investment.
Interest rate on Post Office MIS is calculated on a monthly basis and paid at the end of each month from the date of opening until the maturity. If the account holder does not claim the interest, the interest will not accrue any further interest.
All single adults, up to 3 adults (jointly), a guardian on behalf of minor or minor above 10 years in his/her own name can open a Post Office MIS account.
You can open multiple POMIS accounts in your name. But the total investment in all the accounts should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakhs.
POMIS accounts don’t offer any tax benefit under section 80C. Interest amount is taxable.
The lock-in period for post Office MIS is 5 years.
The Post Office allows premature withdrawal after 1 year. This withdrawal comes with a penalty. If you withdraw before 3 years, 2% gets deducted on deposit. If you withdraw after 3 years, 1% gets deducted on deposit.
